Volunteers of America and Habitat for Humanity are teaming up to give Sheridan's Community homeless shelter at the V.A. an “extreme makeover” of sorts.

It's been 12 years since the shelter has been spruced up. Director of Community Affairs with the VOA, Ethan Boone:

Ethan says the community project, which begins on August 5th and culminates on Saturday, August 7th, will consist of a general deep cleaning, painting, building new wood bunk beds, and adding some family friendly-areas.

The shelter shine-up is important, he says:

A few local businesses have generously donated some building materials and supplies, he says, but they are still needing a few more things, including volunteers, even those who may not be very construction savvy”:

During the three days this project is underway, residents will be housed at the Sheridan Wesleyan Church. A large number of the residents at the shelter are local veterans, but anyone who finds themselves on hard times is welcome.
