Storm Dumps Snow on Rockies, Plains -- More Forecast

DENVER (AP) - A storm bringing the first heavy snows of the season to a large swath of the Rockies has crippled parts of Colorado and Wyoming with up to 2 feet of snow, and leaving residents and travelers bracing for twice that.

Family Fall Fun Fest Coming Up Halloween Night

It’s certainly going to be very busy this weekend in Sheridan. Haunted houses, trick-or-treat events for kids, special shows at the WYO Theater, and the annual Family Fall Fun Fest are just a few of the Halloween festivities. Darrell White is a pastor with the Sheridan Wesleyan Church and he says families are the reason for the Fall Fest celebration.

Teen Accused Of Downtown Burglary Charged With Additional Crimes

A Sheridan teenager is charged with his second burglary in a month in connection with a break in at Metz Beverage a few weeks ago. 18-year-old James Allen received his first burglary charge on October 5th after police witnessed him leaving the Sport Stop in the early morning hours.

Community Land Trust Working To Save Open Spaces For Future

The Sheridan City Council has seen several large acreage annexation requests in the last year. Areas in Sheridan County that have had agricultural uses in the past are being developed into housing subdivisions and business parks. Despite the growing development, the Sheridan County Comprehensive plan emphasizes the preservation of open spaces and wildlife habitat.

Hospital Hits A Minor Snag In Primary Care Practice

Sheridan Memorial Hospital decided several months ago to pursue the endeavor of starting their own primary care practice. Dr. Ian Hunter was the first physician to commit to Big Horn Mountain Medicine, which is still trying to move into their new home, as Dr. Hunter continues to see his patients at the Hospital's Medical Arts Complex.

Sheridan Memorial Receives “Clean Audit”

The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees received their annual audit report at their monthly meeting Wednesday. For fiscal year 2009, the hospital incurred a net operating loss of $923,000 and a net income of $2.6 million.

City Council Holds Special Session To Talk About Sewer Extension

Earlier this month the Sheridan City Council postponed action on a request to extend City sewer services south to the Woodland Park Village Trailer Court. The trailer court has its own wastewater treatment facility and that infrastructure is failing. Royal Elk Properties owns the park and will spend over $150,000 to construct the service line to the current terminus of City sewer lines.
