Zombies Welcome To 'Living Dead'

Organizers of a special screening of the “Night of the Living Dead” movie are hoping that zombies appear.

Kevin Knapp of the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library is encouraging everyone to come in costume. However, there will be a free make-up booth and costume contest after the showing.

The movie is considered by some to be the first modern zombie film. A display featuring zombie books will be presented to inspire attendees to explore literary contributions to the zombie phenomenon.

The event is the library staff's way of paying tribute to these strange monsters, which have taken over popular culture in the last decade. The zombie screening is set for Saturday morning, at 10:30, in the library's Inner Circle room.

And, Knapp says, it's a great way to get in the mood, and in costume, for the Zombie Run set for the afternoon. If the turnout's good, he said, the community will see a mass of zombies walking from the downtown Sheridan to the Zombie Run.
