The Johnson County Family YMCA might be interested in running the Johnson County Youth Camp, according to County Commissioner Jim Hicks, who told the rest of the commission that the YMCA Board was showing interest in doing so.
He also said he had not spoken to Verna Lawrence or any of the other volunteers that are currently running the facility, but that he would like to get all parties together to discuss the possibility.
Hicks wants to make sure no one has any objections and make sure both sides are happy with the possibility.
While talking to the YMCA, Hicks said he was impressed with the number of programs they said they could run at the camp and still keep it's primary function as a 4-H camp.
Another issue he brought up is the need of the city to make application to change the lease with the State of Wyoming and put it into the county's name.
No action was taken and the issue will be addressed at a future meeting.
