More than a dozen people did pushups, lunges and other exercises, alternating with sprints, at Whitney Commons Wednesday during Sheridan's third ParkFit event.

Aimed at promoting community fitness, ParkFit is a free 40-minute workout held on Wednesdays in one of Sheridan's parks. The event is sponsored by Emit Technologies, the Wellness Council of Sheridan, and the Sheridan Recreation District.

Among this week's participants was Nate Shoener. He talked about why he took advantage of the event.

Each workout features a different instructor or organization. The YMCA was in charge of this week's event, and will lead another fitness program on Aug. 20 in Washington Park. ParkFit will take a break for the next two weeks, because of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday followed by Sheridan-WYO Rodeo activities. The program will resume on July 16 with “Fun and Functional Circuits” in Sheltered Acres.
