A new program at the Sheridan County YMCA, "Art For a Cause" will host its first art show to raise money for Y Kid's Scholarships this Thursday evening.
The event will include a variety of art pieces that kids in Y After-School Program age groups have completed collaboratively and individually, selecting their favorite pieces for Art Gallery Night.
Childcare and After-School Programs Director Elisabeth Cassiday explains.
About 100 pieces of kids' art will be available for $10 each, and a silent auction for 35 adult pieces will begin at 5 pm. 4th and 5th graders in the program will serve food and refreshments.
Cassiday added that they intend to continue this program in the spring with more service-learning projects in order to communicate to the kids that, as community members, volunteering is a daily activity that can take many different forms.
