We continue our Year in Review for Sheridan County with a look back at some of the top stories from the second quarter, April through June.

Sheridan City Councilwoman Shelleen Smith was charged with Driving Under the Influence in late April after being picked up at the intersection of Big Horn Avenue and Absaraka Street in Sheridan. In July, Smith pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation.

The Probation and Parole Office in Sheridan received extensive damage from a fire that occurred in May. Fire Marshall Brian Songer said the fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes after crews arrived on scene. However, he added that the interior of the first floor of the building took a hard hit from the flames.

Hail certainly took its toll on much of Sheridan County, as spring hailstorms pounded the area on a couple of different occasions, with the the worst happening in mid June. Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Coleman.

30-year-old Bryan Thomas Jones was arrested in Texas and extradited to Sheridan after being charged with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one charge of sexual abuse of a minor.
