Y Hosts Safe and Healthy Kids Day

Saturday, the “Y” became a focal point of health and safety helping kids get ready to jump into summertime fun. The Safe Kids Day/Healthy Kids Day Fair was an interactive, family-friendly event featuring booths geared to teach children about canoe and ATV safety, hand washing, and bullying.

The kids could also make butter, plant veggies, get hooked up for VBS or the city-wide youth group, K-Life. Coordinator Tarra Donahue.

The event was a joint effort between the Wellness Council of Sheridan County and the “Y”. The Cub Scouts even got involved helping the kids make survival bracelets. Kids were fitted with free bike helmets and could have their bikes checked for proper fit. Attendance was exceptional with over 200 kids participating in the first hour. It speaks to parents wanting to keep their kids safe and healthy this summer. Michele Fritz was there representing the Wellness Council.

The morning opened with a pancake breakfast and all activities were free for the whole family.
