Wyoming's 'Call of the Wild' Premieres Dec. 31

A reality TV series from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department aimed at getting kids into the outdoors, titled Call of the Wild, will premiere this Saturday, Dec. 31, according to the Game and Fish.

Game and Fish Public Information Specialist Eric Keszler stated in a media release that the show is one way they are working to get people excited about getting outdoors and enjoying Wyoming's wildlife. He added that people who hunt and fish contribute more to conservation and management of wildlife than anyone else, so getting them off the couch into the outdoors is vitally important for our outdoor heritage and for the future of wildlife resources.

The Game and Fish took hundreds of applicants from kids around the country to be the hunter or angler on an episode of the 13-part series. They selected kids from inside and outside Wyoming they felt would benefit most from an outdoor experience, Keszler said.

According to the release, the first episode will feature a Colorado teenager, Jake Bullock, who lost his father to cancer and is a cancer survivor himself. Bullock will be shown on a turkey hunt in northeastern Wyoming.

Check local listings for show times or visit thesportsmanchannel.com to find out more, but a tentative airtime for the first episode is noon eastern standard time this Saturday, New Years Eve.
