The Johnson County Commissioners approved the recommendation of the engineer and awarded the contract to build the new Buffalo/Johnson County Recycling Center to Wyoming Woodworks of Buffalo.

Nine bids, ranging from $193,000 to $243,000 were submitted to the engineer.

Brent Bennett, with Elsom Engineering, made his recommendation to the commissioners at their meeting Tuesday.

The bids were not just for the construction of the building, but for the entire project consisting of site preparation, which includes leveling of the property and dirt work; fencing around the entire facility; and curb and gutter along Butte and Railroad Avenues, as well as the 30x60-foot building.

Construction is set to begin as soon as documents are signed and bonding has been done, with completion set for sometime in August.
