Every fall the Wyoming Public Health Association, along with the Wyoming Environmental Health Association, holds an educational conference that helps professionals statewide with current health issues. This year’s conference is taking place this week at the Sheridan Holiday Inn. Regional Public Health Supervisor Judy Stallman tells us the focus of the 2009 session.
The seasonal flu vaccine is becoming available now in most locations throughout the county. The H1N1 vaccine is not due to start arriving until next month. Stallman says the vaccine will be available to certain high-risk groups first.
Those people over 65 are considered to have a higher resistance to the new strain due to a lifetime of flu exposure.
The conference continues for the next two days and will conclude with a WPHA Board Meeting on Thursday afternoon.
