The 148th Annual Meeting and the 89th Representative Assembly of the National Education Association will be held in New Orleans beginning June 26th.
Sheridan Media had an opportunity to visit briefly with president of the Wyoming Education Association, Kathryn Valido from Cheyenne, about issues of importance both nationally and statewide this year.
She says that the legislature and individual legislators always make WEA members feel welcome to share their views and concerns.
Valido ranks Wyoming's education standards in the top five nationally, recognizing that there are always areas in which improvement can be made.
And she comments on the upcoming election, given the governor and Superintendent of Public Instruction are on the ballot this year.
Valido will be joining thirty other educators from around Wyoming as delegates at the NEA. The event runs from June 26th through July 6th; Wyoming's group will be in New Orleans starting June 30th to attend professional development and training sessions as well.
