Wyoming Girls School Girls Hockey Team Faces-Off Thursday

Contributed by Judy Hagerott

The puck drops Thursday morning at 9:30 sharp as the Wyoming Girls School hockey team takes on the Sheridan Woman All-Stars in their 3rd annual face-off at Sheridan Ice, located at 475 East Brundage.

The Girls School team consists of 10 players, many who have never been on a pair of skates until the beginning of this semester, which began in October. Coach Tim Campbell hopes to win. He says the game is for fun, and has been testing the skills of the girls over this past semester. He says that most of them have never been part of a team sport, so for them to even receive a jersey is huge.

One of the girls, named Whitney, likes how being part of the hockey team has helped to build her self-confidence, solve problems, and hone her communication skills.

The public is encouraged to attend and support both teams Thursday morning.

Girls school Hockey

Glad to see they are trying to get sports in the school. I believe it would also be great it they could get a basketball team, maybe a golf team. I think if they were in these sports it my help them a lot. I like the comments by Whitney, I do agree with her. Good luck in your sports.
