Lake Wind Power has partnered with JLM Energy, Inc., to bring unique alternative energy sources to homes and businesses around Wyoming.

Amy Fricano, owner of Lake Wind Power, which is based out of Cody and Western New York, said she doesn't see the traditional fossil fuel economy of Wyoming as her competitor, but rather an ally.

This new inventory of windmills and solar panels are smaller than traditional versions of alternative energy generators, and are designed to address common complaints with earlier models. For example, the windmills are smaller and quieter, and they change their angle to pick up wind from any direction.

Fricano said it's unlikely that a small wind or solar power source would completely replace the need for other fuels at this point, but instead, they could prolong existing resources.

Fricano said wind and solar power generators not only offset monthly energy bills, but qualify for federal tax cuts and accelerated depreciation values.
