Company Looks to Open Coal Mine Near Sheridan

(AP) - A Kentucky-based company says it is preparing to open a new coal mine northwest of Sheridan in 2016. The Brook Mine would be located on 14,500 acres of private and state land between Sheridan and Ranchester.

County Clerk Floyd has received a letter from the state penitentiary warden that the county will receive convict labor this summer. The county clerk requested 20 convicts to work on the Tongue River Canyon road.
