WYO Western Film Series

Classic westerns will be shown at the WYO Sunday evenings in May.

In the past, it wasn't a Saturday morning without a few cartoons and a wild and woolly western to start the day. Well, the WYO Theatre in Sheridan is putting a bit of a spin on that tradition, beginning Sunday evening, May 2nd. Executive Director Nick Johnson explains.

The first offering is the classic Shane, which takes place in Wyoming and – shockingly – was actually filmed in Wyoming, and not somewhere in Canada. Each presentation will have a guest host, with Sheridan author Craig Johnson introducing Shane. He tells us why he loves this film.

Other movies in the series include Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with a mystery guest host on May 9th; Son of Paleface with guest hosts Mary Brannaman and her daughter Reata Brannaman on May 16th; and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance on May 23rd with guest host Doug Sheehan.

Classic Westerns at the WYO, Movies on the Big Screen show at 7 pm each Sunday, and audiences will even get to enjoy free popcorn.
