Wyoming is dipping deep into its firefighting budget.
A spokesman for Gov. Matt Mead tells the Casper Star-Tribune that the state has spent $6 million so far this season in fighting wildfires. The state has just $2 million in its two-year budget for fighting wildfires, but can tap into a nearly $3 million account for general fire activities. In addition, there is $9.2 million available in an emergency fire suppression account.
