LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Some 160 Wyoming Army National Guard soldiers are being deployed soon to the Persian Gulf country of Bahrain.
The Laramie-based 133rd Engineering Company has received federal mobilization orders for 400 days to conduct base security operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The unit will depart April 12 for more than a month of pre-deployment training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi.
The last deployment for the 133rd was in 2004, when the unit performed engineering missions in Iraq.
A deployment ceremony for the unit is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the University of Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium.
Laramie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Commander Lee Killian tells the Laramie Boomerang (http://bit.ly/10Cfxo8) that public send offs are important to deploying soldiers to show support for their mission and service.
