The Wyoming Department of Transportation received a $520,000 Highway for Life grant this week to be used on a five-miles stretch of Highway 196 south of Buffalo.
The funds are part of a new initiative to make longer-lasting highway infrastructure and faster construction. Public relations specialist for WYDOT, Ronda Holwell, said the project will start early next week, so drivers may be held up for a few minutes.
According to a media release from WYDOT highway crews will be using a new type of asphalt mix that is expected to allow for faster project completion and a more sturdy road surface. The project is expected to be complete in one month.
