At Monday night's meeting of the Sheridan City Planning Commission, the commissioners recommended approval of a request to annex just over 264 acres of the Wrench Ranch II Addition into the city. The land in question is between the VA Medical Center, the reservoir of the Wrench Ranch and Interstate 90, west of the Hit-Tech Business Park.

Rice and Sons, Inc. and the Northern Wyoming Community College District petitioned the city for annexation, citing construction of the Sheridan College Large Animal Science Facility and the proposed First People's Center for Education headquarters.
If approved by the city council as recommended by the planning commission, nearly 46 acres would be zoned gateway, nearly 83 acres zoned higher education and the remaining 213 acres would zoned R-3 Residential.
