World Champion Crowned But Not In Rodeo Event

It was another record year for the Sheridan WYO Rodeo and many top ranked cowboys competed in this year’s event. There is one unofficial rodeo event that also seems to get more popular each year and 2009 was no exception. In fact, the 2009 Koltiska Butt Darts World Champion was crowned on Saturday night. Jason Koltiska tells us how they came up with this extremely unorthodox competition.

It’s not just a novelty contest anymore. There are new obstacles each year, bleachers for a growing number of fans and a world championship belt buckle for the winner. Koltiska and his brothers have become as close to professionals as the sport allows.

Last year’s winner made it through the qualifying rounds but failed to defend his title. The new champion is Bryan Potts from Billings, Montana. While there is no prize money, Potts did receive a gold plated belt buckle for his achievement.
