The 2018 Capital Construction Project for the Johnson County Healthcare Center, which will replace the aging Amie Holt Care Center with a new nursing home facility has begun according to Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward.
Ward updated the board of trustees at their monthly meeting this week, saying so far the project is going well, with the contractor moving a lot of dirt to this point.
A portion of the west parking lot has been fenced off to accommodate construction of the new nursing home which will be located between the school district's administration building and the golf course.
Ward said the contractor will be pouring footers this week and concrete would be poured on site in July. Steel work is expected to begin in August with the first floor erected by the end of that month.
The second floor is tentatively scheduled to be erected by the end of November.
The floor will be concrete and will need to be poured.
The hope is to have the building enclosed before the winter weather hits.
