Wyoming’s first ever Women's One Shot Antelope Hunt, an event that both raises money for the Wyoming Womens' Foundation and celebrates female hunters, will be held in October 2013.
Hosted and organized by the Wyoming Women's Foundation, the event will provide a guided antelope hunt for 50 lucky women. The weekend hunt will be held at the Ucross Ranch October 3 – 6, led by experienced guides on the ranch's scenic private land.
Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice and event co-chair, Marilyn Kite, says in a media release that once again, Wyoming's leading the way when it comes to womens issues. Kite says Wyoming was the first state to recognize a woman's right to vote.
Money raised at this event will support the mission of the Wyoming Women's Foundation, a group that invests in the economic self-sufficiency of women and girls alike. The stated goals of the One Shot Antelope Hunt are to provide opportunities for women hunters to mentor and be mentored, to allow participants to network with other like-minded women and of course to enjoy Wyoming's great outdoors.
The group says it will also support efforts to improve access to education and jobs for women in the Cowboy State.
