Women's Self-Defense Program Needs A Few Good Men

Empower Wyoming will offer personal safety and self-defense training to women, girls and children, and in fact owner Francine Russell has provided a few courses over the last couple of years.

Russell explains why she is looking to start teaching self defense regularly in Wyoming.

Russell said the idea is to meet all the criteria to eventually be affiliated with Impact International in Los Angeles to be Wyoming's Chapter to teach their form of self-defense. With Wyoming's population spread out, she envisions a mobile, moving chapter that will teach classes all over the state.

Women, she said, are naturally drawn to this type of program, but men are not. Empower Wyoming is looking for a few good men, but for a completely different reason than many may think.

Russell is looking for men interested in training to become co-instructors in the classes, and this will take some commitment on the part of the men, as there will be extensive training, FBI background checks and eventually physical training associated with the classes.

Russell said the classes are not martial arts, but self-defense, which she stressed were two totally different concepts.
