WY News Service -- This week, October 17th through the 22nd, is National Wolf Awareness Week, and with the state of Wyoming close to getting back management of wolves from the feds, one group believes that the state's plan could serve to protect the animals even more.

John Spahr, spokesperson for the Sierra Club's Resilient Habitats Campaign in Wyoming, says that the predator to trophy game ratio could cause problems for the animals down the road.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service endorsed Wyoming's plan early in October, and the Legislature will finish it in early 2012.

Spahr believes that more than just wolves could benefit from an expanded trophy game zone. For example, landowners losing cattle to wolves.

The 350 comments that the Wyoming Game and Fish received related to the plan will be published next week.
