SARATOGA, Wyo. (AP) - Eminent domain, just compensation and defining collector systems are among the issues that were discussed during a wind energy conference in Saratoga. The conference was held Thursday and Friday by the Wyoming Task Force on Wind Energy.
Eminent domain is the governmental acquisition of private property via condemnation for public use. During the public comment portion of the conference, a Rocky Mountain Power representative said it was critical for the company to continue exercising eminent domain so it can provide electric service. But others say landowners who see collector lines put on their property need to be given some help in seeking just compensation.
