It has been a very eventful week for Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers to say the least. The unusual events began Tuesday when Troopers were called out to a report of a tractor trailer that had a tire on fire at the west Gillette interchange on Interstate 90. Sergeant Stephen Townsend explains that a tire fire was the least of Troopers concerns once arriving on scene.
I-90 was closed for a short time because of the incident, but crews quickly cleaned up the small spill and nobody was injured as a result. Wednesday is the day that Troopers discovered an unusual find during a traffic stop near near Farson. Two male individuals from Worland, the driver and his passenger were arrested for being in possession of various drugs and drug related paraphernalia. Law Enforcement also found something in a zip lock bag that had been placed inside a Crown Royal Bag.
Townsend said that the vehicle owner, who was not present at the time of the traffic stop, said that she was very close to her grandmother and that she always kept her nearby in the console of her vehicle.
Townsend also stated that Troopers will be out in full force this Labor Day Weekend, as they are once again taking part in Operation CARE, which is a Nationwide effort to reduce accidents over long holiday weekends. Operation CARE will run through Labor Day.
