The Whitney Ice Rink has been under construction for the last several months. Much of the work culminated yesterday in one of the final steps of the project. Concrete workers arrived a little before 3 in the morning yesterday to begin pouring the floor of the rink. Brenden Jespersen tells us why the entire rink floor had to be completed in one shot.
Whitney Benefits Vice Chairman Roy Garber says the ice rink is a project they’ve wanted to upgrade for a long time.
The upgrades to the rink should be complete within the next month and that should allow the rink to open around the same time as last year.
Garber hopes that with the project complete the rink’s season can be extended by a month or more both in the fall and spring.
