CHEYENNE, (AP) - President Barack Obama has nominated Wyoming first lady Nancy Freudenthal to fill an open federal judgeship in the state. The White House announced the President's nomination of Nancy Freudenthal on Friday. She's a partner with the Davis and Cannon law firm in Cheyenne.
Governor Dave Freudenthal drew fire from the state Republican Party this summer when he announced he had submitted his wife's name along with those of two other Wyoming lawyers for consideration for the judgeship.
The governor had campaigned for Obama during his presidential campaign. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Nancy Freudenthal will fill the judgeship held by U.S. District Judge Clarence Brimmer of Cheyenne. Brimmer has been on senior status for the past few years.
