Late last week a story surfaced indicating that the University of Wyoming would be closing the Geological Museum in Laramie effective July 1st.
State Representative John Patton along with Senator Bruce Burns were guest's Monday on KROE'S Public Pulse program. Patton says that the original memo that was sent out was a bit misleading regarding the closure.
Senator Burns states that shutting down the museum altogether would not be an option.
University officials say that closing the museum to the public and laying of its director and a part-time employee will save the school about $80,000 a year.
Closing the public portion of the museum is part of the $18 million in cuts at the University due to declining state revenue.
