Do you know a weiner dog with tons of energy and sociable personality? If so, your pooch could be your claim to local fame.
The Paw Prints Pet Boutique is sponsoring the inaugural “Weiner Dog Races” Tuesday night in its parking lot. Jocie Corcoran, owner, explains how things will go down.
Tails will fly and ears will flap in the breeze as dozens of stubby little legs clamor for the coveted title of being the fastest weenie dog in Sheridan--that is, as long as they don't get distracted. In the interest of keeping the competition vivid, racing dogs will be assigned a category appropriate for their age and size.
Corcoran said your beloved weiner dog does not have to be a pure-blooded dachshund to compete; it just has to look somewhat like a weenie dog and be 14 inches or shorter at the shoulder. There's no entry fee, but there will be prizes and giveaways for the top dogs.
Race registration time is 6:30 Tuesday night, and the races start at 7. Corcoran says she already has 15 entries, and is expecting many more.
