Weather results in short commission meeting

The cold and snowy conditions affected the Johnson County Commissioner's meeting, with many of those scheduled on the agenda unable to make the meeting.

Chris Jones with the National Weather Service, representatives of Volunteers of America and the Powder River Conservation District all called in to say they would not be able to make the meeting, and County Assessor Cindy Rogers was reported sick, so the meeting was shortened substantially.

Some items they were able to address were approving the Holiday Schedule for county employees for 2014. These are the same 14 days they traditionally approve every year.

The Airport Board sent in a request for the commissioners to approve a T-Hangar lease which the board had already approved.
Lessee Marion Potterfield has no plane to house in the hangar at this time, but is searching for one to purchase and house in the hangar.
The commissioners approved the lease.

County Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connolly brought a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) before the commissioners for their approval. The MOU designated the Harold Jarrard Park as a shelter site for southern Johnson County.
The commissioners approved the chair to sign the MOU.
