Johnson County's Commissioners approved the purchase of an extended warranty for the justice center's phone systems to protect the building's call center components.
The building, completed in 2011, is no longer under the original warranty and the police department and sheriff's office suggested the commissioners purchase the warranty.
Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder discussed the warranty program and what it covers with the commissioners.
This year's billing for roughly $1,400 will cover the justice center only as the judicial center's warranty is still in effect. Next year the judicial center will be added to the warranty for only a small surcharge to cover the phone system, which is run through the same call center computers in the justice center.
The Commission approved the chair to sign the agreement when it is presented.
