According to the unofficial election results for the Sheridan City Council race, Shelleen Smith has won the seat for Ward I by 141 votes. Smith beat contender Anthony Fairbanks with a total of 1,156 votes to Fairbanks' 1,015.
Sheridan Media's Chris Foy spoke with Smith as soon as the results came in on election night and she was understandably excited about her victory. Smith spoke to what will be important to her when serving the city from her new position.
As president of the North Main Association in Sheridan, Smith said her recent work in revitalizing the North Main Corridor is just the beginning. She said she wants to see all of Sheridan grow and prosper.
Smith said she is looking to the future with excitement for and gratitude to the community.
Ryan Mulholland most recently held the seat for Smith's new seat as City Councilor of Ward I, but Mulholland opted not to run.
