Cheyenne, WY (WY News Service) - Wartime memories of veterans across the country are being preserved by a team of volunteers, with videotaped interviews that eventually will be available through the National Archives.
Some 150 veterans are sharing their war memories to be preserved for posterity in a veterans history project that will eventually be available through the National Archives. Coordinator Larry Conway says some of the stories are very compelling, like one soldier who did grave registration for the Army in Europe following WWII.
Conway says veterans from all United States wars are being interviewed, but there is an emphasis on World War II vets.
Conway says veterans are interviewed on video, and they'd like to find more Native American veterans willing to share their stories. The volunteers have most recently been interviewing veterans in Arizona, and can be contacted through Tempe Connections-dot-org.
