During the 2012 Wyoming Association of Municipalities Convention, or WAM, held last week in Sheridan, several Community Hero awards were bestowed upon two combined Sheridan groups at a banquet Friday night.

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Sheridan Association were honored for the work they've done in developing the 3rd Thursday Street Festival; and the Public Arts Committee and Sheridan Media were honored for the implementation and growth of the public sculptures program.

WAM Executive Director, George Parks, explains the Community Hero Award.

Along with the Sheridan winners, awards also went to the Valley Community Center of Dixon, Wyoming, and to the Jim Bridger FFA Ag Issues Team from Mountain View, Wyoming. Parks tells us how Sheridan was selected.

As for the convention, Parks says, the experience in Sheridan was positive.

The 2013 Wyoming Association of Municipalities Convention will be held in Laramie.
