The Sheridan chapter of Northern Wyoming Walleyes Unlimited is helping a Sheridan Eagle Scout earn a significant badge, but they need the publics' assistance.
Colter Stopka is with Boy Scout Troop 117, and the Walleyes group approached him to design and build three life jacket stations at all three boat ramps at Lake DeSmet.
Walleyes spokesman Ken Gould said Stopka shared some grave statistics about the critical need for life jackets.
Gould says that several years ago, a life jacket station was installed at the Tongue River Reservoir, and proved to be a successful addition to recreational activities on that body of water. He adds that Stopka has really taken this project on whole-heartedly.
Plans are for the life jacket stations to be installed in time for the Memorial Weekend Fishing Derby.
Gould indicates that donated life jackets can be dropped off at Knecht Home Center in Sheridan by Friday, May 20th. All sizes are needed, but especially children's sizes.
