This week is National Volunteer Week. It's all about recognizing and inspiring people to engage in their communities. This week, we'll spotlight a few of the many volunteers who are such a vital part of our community.
Sheridan Memorial Hospital has many volunteers and it's the hospital's Auxiliary volunteers, that run the gift shop there. Volunteer coordinator Patty Forister explains what the auxiliary does.
Barbara Niner has volunteered for close to fifteen years at the hospital and currently manages the gift store. She says her grandmother was her example.
Sandy Pilch remembers her days as a candy stripper at the hospital.
The gift shop serves as a safe haven for many.
This year the Auxiliary raised $25,000 which went towards the hospital's new cardiac catherization lab.
