Volunteers of America Northern Rockies has received two more $500,000 donations, one from Forrest Mars and one from The Daniels Fund, toward the $3.5 million fundraising campaign going to build a new men's substance abuse center, or Life House, in Sheridan.
VOA Director of Development PJ Triede talked about how grateful they are for the support and what it will allow them to do.
The two pledges, combined with the $500,000 from the Joe and Arlene Watt Foundation that was announced last week, makes $1.5 million raised for the public phase of the fundraising campaign that began on June 27.
Because of these donations, the projected completion of the facility has been moved up to August 2012. This comes from certain requirements, for example in the Daniels Fund gift, that require the facility to be completed within 18 months. A groundbreaking for the Life House will be 2 p.m. Friday. Triede talked about the groundbreaking event.
The new Life House will be behind Landon's Greenhouse where VOA's women's treatment facility and recently completed Milestone Children's Home are located.
