Volunteers of America Northern Rockies recognized 49 in Sheridan on Saturday who have graduated substance abuse recovery programs in the past few years.

It was the inaugural recovery graduation ceremony for VOA, according to a media release from VOA director of community affairs Ethan Boone.

President and CEO Jeff Holsinger praised the graduates at the ceremony on Saturday.

The 49 who gathered from across the state had completed recovery programs since 2009, the release said.

More than 250 friends and family members attended the ceremony. There was live music and games for kids in a drug- and alcohol-free day celebrating sobriety.
