A Status Hearing was held in 4th Judicial District Court Thursday for Sheridan resident Vincent Scott. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there and has the details.
Scott was initially scheduled to go to trial June 2nd; however, his Defense Attorney Shelley Cundiff filed a motion to have a competency evaluation done on her client because of an incident where Scott harmed himself in the Sheridan County Detention Center this spring.
The results of the evaluation conducted by the Wyoming State Hospital indicated that Scott is competent to stand trial on the charges against him. Scott is charged with three felony counts; 1st Degree Sexual Assault, Aggravated Assault, and Child Abuse. He is also charged with three misdemeanors; Domestic Battery, Interference with a 911 call, and Violation of a Protection Order.
In November of 2009, Scott allegedly attacked his now ex-wife and their 5-year-old child in their home. He also allegedly threatened both of their lives with a knife during the attack. Their 4-month-old baby was also present in the home.
The two-day trial will take place October 6th and 7th.
