Sheridan College's newly remodeled and expanded Thorne Rider Student Center is expected to be open when classes start on Sept. 3.
And that's just part of what will be happening on the campus in Sheridan during the next few years.
Dr. Richard Hall is the college's new vice president of academic affairs. He said he is pleased and amazed at the building projects that are under way at the community college.
In addition to the campus center, the tech building is scheduled for remodeling, and a new music and art building and the Mars Agricultural Center are both being designed.
An open house for the campus center is planned for Sept. 10. The facility includes a remodel of the original 16,000 square-foot facility, and a 12,000 square-foot addition. The original center was built in 1966 for 100 resident students. The college now has more than 400 resident students. Among amenities is a modern food court with seating capacity for more than 400 people.
