Services in observance of Veteran's Day will be presented in Buffalo Thursday morning. All citizens are encouraged to attend the ceremonies to pay respect and homage to all veterans.
The Parade of Veterans of All Wars will assemble at the corner of Fort and Adams Streets at 10:45 am, and will march from there to the Veteran's Memorial on Main Street where the ceremonies will take place.
The Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by former Buffalo Mayor and United States Air Force Veteran Sgt. Nels Lofgren. The Auxiliaries of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion will then present the Flag Ceremony. Following the Flag Ceremony will be a musical selection from the Clear Creek Choir with Allison Voigt directing.
This year's guest speaker will be Ron Chapin giving the featured address, after which Lofgren will give the Benediction. Following the Benediction, there will be the firing squad volley and then buglers from the Buffalo High School Music Department will play “Taps” to close the ceremonies.
In case of inclement weather, wreaths will be placed at the Veteran's Memorial followed by three volleys from the firing squad and “Taps” to close.
Following the ceremonies at the Veteran's Memorial, the American Legion will host an open house at their home on Veteran's Avenue in Buffalo.
Later in the day at 1 pm, the Buffalo Moose Lodge on South Main Street will also have an open house. All veterans and their families are invited.
