Verizon Network cellular service has been down since about 9 o'clock this morning in northeast Wyoming.
The problem occurred when a fiber-optic line was cut at a main hub by an un-named telephone company, affecting 34 towers in Montana and Northeast Wyoming, according to sales representative Tracy Plummer with Wireless Connections in Buffalo, a retail Verizon Wireless store.
Plummer said there are areas affected between Montana and Casper, including around Buffalo, Kaycee and most of Johnson County, as well as Gillette and most of Campbell County. Sheridan County, she said, seems to be less affected according to her customers.
Verizon informed Plummer they hope to have service fully restored sometime late this afternoon.
