Today in Sheridan, the VA Medical Center and the Sheridan Police Department are teaming up on a unique project. Will Banks is a Social Worker and Homeless Grant and Per Diem Liaison at the VAMC. He explains.

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development funds local homeless assistance planning networks called Continuums of Care. The primary purpose, Banks tells us.

In his line of work, Banks partners with the various agencies and community resources in Sheridan – the VOA Freedom Hall, the Homeless Shelter, etc. – to assist in the transitional efforts to bring the homeless to a place where they are in a place of permanence. He adds.

Banks, along with Health Care for Homeless Vets Coordinator Scott Tomsovic, will be taking part in today's Point in Time count. Tomsovic urges anyone in the community to contact him or Banks of people known to be living in unsheltered situations.

You can reach Will Banks at (307) 672-3473, Ext. 3823, or Scott Tomsovic at (307) 672-3473, Ext.3875
