Wednesday we shared a story with you about the VA partnering with the Sheridan Police Department to take part in the national Point in Time count on the homeless situation in Sheridan. Coming up February 1st from 2 to 4 pm in the VA Auditorium, the public is invited to attend a community forum addressing the issue.
Scott Tomsovic is the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Coordinator at the VAMC. He describes the impetus for the VA getting involved.
Tomsovic, as his title suggests, works with veterans to let them know what services the VA provides. There are two VA-run shelters on the VA grounds, and for veterans who require extended care that does not necessarily require a stay in the hospital, there are about fifty beds available between the domiciliary and other building. Tomsovic adds.
While the agenda of the forum has not been finalized, there should be an array of experts represented. VA Public Relations Specialist Jackie Van Mark tells us.
Van Mark is quick to add that it is not only homeless veterans to whom they are reaching out, but all homeless people in the community.
