LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has chosen a Casper company to oversee renovation of the Arena-Auditorium. Trustees decided Friday to authorize negotiation a contract with Haselden Construction to serve as construction manager for the project's $12 million first phase.
UW officials say the company was chosen from four finalists. All four finalists were Wyoming companies. The first phase of the project will expand the floor of the basketball court to provide two practice courts and reorient the competition court. Work is expected to begin next March. The Arena-Auditorium opened in 1982 and is known as the "Dome of Doom" because of its imposing design. The first phase of the renovation will be funded with $7 million in private donations and $5 million in state funds.
