LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - University of Wyoming president Tom Buchanan says the school would likely have to lay off some workers if state lawmakers move ahead with even the mildest budget cuts on the table.
Buchanan on Tuesday presented the college's Board of Trustees with what the 2-, 5- and 8 percent budget cuts might look like after lawmakers requested the plans be drawn up. The state Legislature meets next February to work out a new state budget.
Buchanan says the state's only four-year public university is still much better off financially than colleges in many other states. He says the potential cuts are, "a small part of what other states are dealing with in a much larger and more significant way."
