The C-Tel Auditorium at Sheridan College is the location for an International Studies Scholars Lecture Series event brought to Sheridan from the University of Wyoming. The title of the program is quite a mouthful – Understanding Consequences and Opportunities of Rapid Social Changes Inside China.

A synopsis about the program, says that “many call the 21st Century China's century, and by the numbers China has the fastest growing economy in the world. In fact, it is now the second largest economy in the world, and business and social trends in China have ripple effects around the globe.”

Dr. Jean Garrison is the Director of the International Studies Program at UW. She will be moderating the event, which will feature three faculty members from China who are working at UW for this semester.

Along with these three will be Yarong Ashley, who is on the ISP staff at UW. Her focus, Garrison says.

The ISP, the Wyoming Humanities Counsel and Sheridan College are sponsoring the Lecture. Funding comes from a U.S. Department of Education grant the ISP received in partnership with Wyoming's community colleges.

The International Studies forum begins at 7 pm on Monday, October 11th. It is free and open to the public.
