The University of Wyoming has announced that during the most recent fiscal year that ended on June 30th, UW received a record $56 million in private gifts. That broke 2011's record of $43 million in private donations.
President of the UW Foundation, Ben Blalock, says these donations mean the university has an incredibly broad base of support. He explains that corporate donations play an important role for UW.
Blalock says this is the first time in the university's history that private philanthropy has surpassed the $50 million mark, with contributions from more than 25,000 separate donors. He says this brings UW’s five-year fundraising average to nearly $41 million a year.
